Masonry Aquashield SB is a solvent borne silicone solution used to impregnate masonry, including limestone, to make it water-repellent. This product reacts with atmospheric moisture, or pore water within the substrate, generating an active ingredient which greatly lowers the water absorbency of the masonry. Masonry treated with Masonry Aquashield SB will be protected from moisture absorption and the resulting damage that can occur as a result of dirt retention, the growth of fungi, algae, moss and lichen. The pores in the treated masonry remain open allowing high permeability or "breathability". As Masonry Aquashield SB is a treatment, not a film, the appearance of the treated masonry remains unchanged, without any surface residue.
